Notes on Java applet support
Most versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer include Java applet support, but some versions shipped in 2003
do not. In older versions of Internet Explorer, installation of Java was optional, and the user who installed
the browser may have chosen to leave it out. Some versions of Mozilla and Mozilla Firebird do not include
Java in the installation. If your copy of Internet Explorer or Mozilla does not have Java, go to
java.com and click on "Free Download"
or "Get It Now".
Netscape version 7 includes release 1.4.0 of the Java applet runtime environment. This version sometimes has
difficulty correctly updating applet graphics. To correct this cosmetic problem, you can upgrade to the latest
JRE (Java Runtime Environment) by going to java.com's
manual download
page and selecting the download that is appropriate for your computer's operating system.
We do not support the special browsers used by AOL, MSN, and other online services. We recommend that you do
not use these browsers for PrevalOnline. One other browser that may provide sufficient Java applet support,
but is not officially supported by PrevalOnline, is Opera (version 3.5 or higher). There is also a
version of Mozilla for Macintosh OS X called Camino, which may work but at this time is not officially
supported.
